Road development still ongoing in Sihanoukville despite COVID-19

The spread of the COVID-19 virus has not hindered Sihanoukville’s infrastructure development with many government development projects, including the construction of Road No. 400 near Ochheuteal beach, still progressing.

On 30 March 2020, HE Kouch Chamroeun, Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, accompanied by Mr E Sokleng, Governor of Sihanoukville city, led a team of experts to inspect the road construction, which is one of 34 city road projects being built.

“The construction of all the roads on the project is about 55% complete. There are a total of eight private companies that are currently working day and night to complete on time as scheduled,” said Mr Kheang Phearum, spokesman for the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia broke ground on the 34 road construction in Preah Sihanouk province on 16 November 2019. The project is estimated to cost around US$294 million. (Read more)
