SHV multi-purpose SEZ development master plan phase-I concluded

The draft study result of the master plan to transform Sihanoukville into a multi-purpose special economic zone (SEZ) Phase 1 has been completed, while the inter-ministerial team is currently evaluating and commenting on it.

Held on 30 March, the evaluation meeting on the draft report was chaired by HE Aun Porn Moniroth, Minister of Economy and Finance, and attended by representatives of the Urban Planning and Design Institute of Shenzhen (UPDIS), as well as relevant officials.

Prepared by UPDIS, the draft report focused on two key areas including zone and condition analysis, as well as preliminary concepts showcasing the future picture of master planning.

The meeting advised the team to make some changes to the draft to make it more comprehensive before obtaining final approval.

The master plan preparation is divided into 5 phases and takes about 18 months to be completed.

It is a road map of setting up a highly innovative modern infrastructure that can be considered a smart city, including the construction of residential buildings, industrial zones, protected natural areas, among others with a sustainable and creative mindset.
