US$16m Sewerage & Wastewater Treatment Plant Inaugurated in Stoeung Sen

Stoeng Sen City in Kampong Thom province has celebrated the official inauguration of the Stoeng Sen Sewerage & Wastewater Treatment Plant Project, a remarkable initiative valued at over US$16 million.

The facility was inaugurated by HE Peng Po, Minister of Public Works and Transport, on 15 September 2023, signifying a significant stride towards modernising and enhancing the urban environment in the vicinity of the Tonle Sap Lake.

The project, which falls under Phase 2 of the Urban Environment Improvement Program, has been made possible through a US$16 million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Commencing construction on 6 July 2020, this ambitious project was completed on 11 July 2023.

Spanning 159.81 hectares, the project encompasses four vital communes within Stung Sen city, Kampong Thom province. These communes include Sangkat Kampong Rotes, Sangkat Kampong Thom, Sangkat Damrey Choan Khla, and Sangkat O’Kunthor.

This transformative project is more than just infrastructure development; it is a testament to Cambodia’s commitment to improving urban living standards, fostering sustainable urban growth, and safeguarding precious natural resources. As the Stoeng Sen Sewerage and Wastewater Treatment Plant Project becomes operational, it holds the promise of a cleaner, healthier, and more vibrant urban environment for the residents of Kampong Thom province.
