Thailand Provides US$30m to Cambodia for NR67 Renovation

Cambodia and Thailand have signed a concessional loan agreement for a total amount of THB983 million (approximately US$30 million) for the renovation of NR67 connecting Siem Reap to Along Veng and Choam Sangam.

Government spokesman HE Vongsey Visoth said recently that the concessional loan agreement reflects the good relationship between Cambodia and Thailand in all aspects.

Meanwhile, Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, Director of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), said that NEDA is currently playing an active role as a development partner of Cambodia, focusing on infrastructure development projects in Thailand. The goal is to accelerate the connection between the two countries.

NR67 has been rehabilitated and rebuilt under concessional financing from Thailand since 2006 and was inaugurated in July 2009.

After more than a decade of operation, the road has been damaged and requires repair.

NR 67 is 135km long connecting Siem Reap and northern Cambodia to Sisaket and Northeast Thailand.
