Majestic Roundabout and King Kan Statue Near Completion in Tbong Khmum at 90% Progress Mark

An architectural marvel is nearing completion in Tbong Khmum, as the roundabout and the awe-inspiring 13.35-meter-high copper statue of King Kan near the 90% milestone. This significant achievement was confirmed by the Tbong Khmum Provincial Administration on the 23rd of October, 2023.

Situated at the juncture of National Road No. 7, precisely at km 157+210, and a type “A” road in the location known as “Veal Ind Chakrei,” this monumental roundabout stands as a symbol of pride for the province. It occupies the administrative precinct between the southern Trapeang Kou village, the northern Tro Bos village, and Pratheat village, within the Sralop commune of Tbong Khmum district.

The heart of this architectural masterpiece, the King Kan statue, reaches a towering height of 13.35 meters and is meticulously crafted from copper. Construction of this ambitious project commenced on November 5, 2021. The roundabout’s circle, encompassing the grand King Kan statue, boasts a generous diameter of 36 meters and an expansive area spanning 1,017 square meters.

This monumental endeavor extends beyond artistic symbolism; it includes twin concrete roads, adorned with streetlights and meticulously landscaped gardens. The project, funded by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, underscores Cambodia’s commitment to fostering infrastructure development and architectural excellence.

The project is on track for completion by the end of the month. The splendid statue of King Kan has already found its rightful place at the site, according to Mr. Seng Chey Vuth, Director of Administration of Tbong Khmum Province, by telephone with the Construction and Property News on October 24.

Upon completion, the majestic roundabout, coupled with the resplendent King Kan statue cast in copper, is poised to become a prime attraction for tourists. This iconic site will not only invite visitors to marvel at its grandeur but also offers an opportunity for them to capture timeless memories against the backdrop of “Preah Thong Tong Sbay Neang Neak,” reminiscent of Sihanoukville.
