The Government of Cambodia Transfers 230 Hectares of Land from Phnom Penh to Kandal

In a significant administrative shift, the Government of Cambodia has announced the transfer of nearly 230 hectares of land from Phnom Penh to Kandal province. This decision, formalized in a royal decree signed by Acting Head of State Samdech Techo Hun Sen on March 13, 2025, involves a revision of the administrative borders between the two regions.

The royal decree specifies the removal of 226 hectares, 1940 square meters from Chroy Ampil 1 village in Kbal Koh Sangkat, Chbar Ampov Khan, Phnom Penh, transferring control of this area to Koh Prak village, Phum Thom commune, Kien Svay district in Kandal province. It includes 181 hectares, 5014 square meters of land, and 44 hectares, 6926 square meters of water.

Accompanying this adjustment, an official map detailing the new administrative borders has been attached to the decree. The royal decree also mandates that any existing provisions contradicting this adjustment will be rendered null and void.

In line with his responsibilities, the Acting Head of State has tasked Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen with the implementation of this decree effective immediately.

This land transfer follows a previous initiative where the Royal Government had taken 302 hectares from Takhmao City in Kandal Province to integrate into Phnom Penh’s Dangkor District. This earlier move aimed to mitigate impacts and support the development of master plans for satellite cities, including Boeung Tumpun and Boeung Choeung, enhancing administrative management in the region.
