Cambodia Invests USD 200m to Complete 1,300-Km Border Road Construction

The Cambodian government has allocated USD 200 million to complete the construction of a 1,300-kilometre border road, connecting the nation to Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.

The announcement was made by PM Samdech Hun Manet during a graduation ceremony in Phnom Penh on 5 August 2024, where he confirmed that the final plan had been signed in July 2024.

“This project is part of a broader initiative to improve border infrastructure, with half of the 2,660-kilometre  (1,300 km) already constructed and remained 1,300 km.  I signed in July the final plan for building a complete border road with a budget of USD 200 million,” said the PM.

The PM explained that the project is part of a long-term development strategy, supported by the “Border Infrastructure Fund”, which has already raised over USD 19 million from around 400,000 contributors.

The fund plays a critical role in the nation’s efforts to enhance transportation and connectivity across its borders, promoting economic development and regional cooperation.
