Groundbreaking Innovation: Cambodian-Made Product to Revitalize Phnom Penh’s Major Roads

The Cambodian government has chosen to employ a revolutionary product developed locally, known as Cold Mix AC, for the repair and revitalization of three prominent roads. This momentous decision was announced by HE Dr. Om Yentieng, Chairman of the National Working Group, during the highly anticipated groundbreaking ceremony held on 30 June 2023.

HE Dr. Om Yentieng emphasized that the construction team will utilize Cold Mix AC (Cold Mixing Asphalt Concrete) rubber to resurface these significant roads—a pioneering product developed by the Cambodian people. The Cold Mix AC is the first of its kind in Cambodia and has been meticulously researched and developed over a decade by HE Uy Sophal, the Under Secretary of State for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, earning recognition from the Royal Government.

Spanning a total length of 984 meters and covering an area of 6,694 square meters across six villages, these three roads will undergo a remarkable transformation with the application of Cold Mix AC.

Among the roads set to benefit from this innovative solution are Second_ Street 261, spanning 347 meters with a width of 8 meters (located in Village 13), and Third_ Street 251, stretching 240 meters with a width of 5.6 meters (located in Village 14). These roads, alongside the others in Sangkat Boeung Salang, Khan Toul Kork, are poised to receive a durable and advanced road surface.

The government’s decision to employ locally developed Cold Mix AC signifies a momentous milestone for Cambodia’s infrastructure sector. This breakthrough technology not only showcases the nation’s commitment to pioneering advancements but also highlights the remarkable achievements of HE Uy Sophal and the dedicated research team.
