The Gov’t Explores Two Road Options to Connect Tonle Bassac Bridge to NR 1

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport is evaluating two potential routes to connect the new US$60 million Bassac River Bridge, which links Chak Angre Krom to Prek Pra, with NR No. 1.

During a project meeting on 7 August 2024, chaired by HE Suong Heng, Secretary of State, the team reviewed these alternatives: the first route spans 1.595 km, while the second covers 1.490 km. Both roads aim to facilitate smoother traffic flow from the bridge’s eastern end in Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh, to NR No. 1.

The discussion focused on determining the optimal route and technical plan for the road, ensuring it meets the project’s goals and contributes to the region’s infrastructure development. This initiative is part of the broader bridge project across the Bassac River, which began on 19 February 2024 and has already achieved nearly 12 percent completion by the end of May 2024.
