Samdech Techo Inaugurates Ring Road 3, Now Completed at Whopping US$464m

The highly anticipated inauguration of Ring Road 3, a testament to connectivity and progress, was celebrated under the leadership of Samdech Hun Sen, PM of Cambodia on 3 August 2023.

Symbolising a beacon of sustainable development, the grand inauguration of Ring Road 3, after a colossal investment of US$464 million, resonated as a triumph of cross-border cooperation and steadfast commitment to elevating Cambodia’s connectivity to new heights. This momentous event unveiled a one-lane road spanning 52.98km, bridging the vibrant city of Phnom Penh with the flourishing Kandal province.

PM Samdech Hun Sen addressed the gathering, articulating the profound significance of this endeavour. He highlighted the pivotal role of this remarkable infrastructure, emphasising that its price tag, standing at an impressive US$464 million, attests to its monumental stature. The funding consortium includes a US$259 million contribution from the People’s Republic of China and a matching US$200 million from the Government of Cambodia.

Ring Road 3 emerges as a true lifeline of connectivity, stretching 52,983km and extending its embrace over a comprehensive 5.36km passage through the province of Kandal. It then gracefully unfurls over nearly 38 km within the bustling city of Phnom Penh, further extending itself over 15km within the urban landscape.

This marvel of engineering extends up to a remarkable width of 27 metres within urban confines, subtly tapering to a 25-metre breadth as it journeys beyond the city limits, seamlessly integrating aesthetics with functionality.

The realisation of this monumental endeavour is attributed to the solid construction by the Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd., meticulously overseen by the technical expertise of Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision Co., Ltd.

The triumphant inauguration of Ring Road 3 echoes the visionary foresight of Cambodia’s leadership, harking back to its groundbreaking ceremony on 14 January 2019, also presided over at that time by PM Samdech Techo Hun Sen. (Read more)
