Three Key Rural Roads Near Completion in Kampong Cham & Tbong Khmum

Three rural roads spanning over 40 kilometres in Kampong Cham and Tbong Khmum provinces are nearing full completion, with construction progress close to 100% as of 4 September 2024. The Ministry of Rural Development has overseen this crucial infrastructure project, which aims to enhance regional connectivity and promote agricultural trade.

The first road, measuring 17.55km, connects Kilo 10 village in Kampong Cham to Phnom Krahorm village in Kampong Thom. It is 97% complete and is set for finalisation by the end of September 2024. The second road, 12.50km long, links Ban Preu Kleng village in Tbong Khmum to Sre Veng village, with 85% of the work completed and a scheduled finish date also by the end of September.

This development is part of the Agricultural Chain Price Promotion and Enhancement (ACSEP) project, co-financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Royal Government of Cambodia, the ASEAN Infrastructure Loan Japan Poverty Alleviation Fund, and the French Agency for Development (AFD). Under the ACSEP project, the Ministry is constructing a total of 110.55km of roads across six provinces, including Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmum, Kampong Thom, Preah Vihear, Siem Reap, and Oddar Meanchey.

Additionally, a third road, 12.3km in length, is under construction from National Road No. 7 at Preah Ponlea village to Pong village in Tbong Khmum province. This project, part of the World Bank-funded Road Infrastructure Interconnection Project (RCIP), is expected to be completed by August 2025.
