Two Chinese Firms Plant to Invest in the Satellite System and Coal-fired Power Plant

Representatives from two Chinese firms had met with Commerce Minister H.E Pan Sorasak yesterday to disclose their plan to invest in coal-fired power plant and satellite system in Cambodia.

According to the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), Mr Liang Shan, deputy director of Shanghai Electronic Communication Technology Co., Ltd said that his company wants to invest in the coal-fired power plant in the kingdom. In addition, he also added that the company is specialized in coal-fired power using modern technology that does not impact the environment.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yongtao Jiao, director of Beidou Star Data Technology Co., Ltd has also shown similar interest to invest in the satellite system. The company, as claimed, has a satellite technology that can capture images and transmit data across many countries as well as continents.

In response, H.E Pan Sorasak supported the investment plan while urging the companies to carefully study the geographical location in the country and their potential clients before submitting the official investment proposals to the Royal Government.

However, this is the first meeting to be held therefore detail on capital investment, location, schedule of the investment projects are yet available.

While electricity supply and telecommunication both important for the development of a country, many companies have invested in the business. Earlier this week, the Royal Government has just approved a mega coal-fired power plant worth billions of dollars in Sihanoukville. (Read More)
