US-ASEAN Business Council to Mobilise US Energy Companies to Invest in Cambodia

The US-ASEAN Business Council will mobilize more US energy companies to invest in Cambodia as Cambodia develops rapidly in the energy sector, including in oil and gas.

The remarks were made by HE Michael W. Michalak, Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director of the US-ASEAN Business Council, during a meeting with HE Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy on 5 May.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed focusing on key topics such as the potential for expansion of gas stations and the possibility of investing in electric car battery charging stations in Cambodia, strengthening oil and gas exploration cooperation, cooperating to develop energy infrastructure, including strengthening and upgrading power transmission standards, energy management, and energy-saving systems, and investing in clean and renewable energy.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from the US Embassy in Cambodia and representatives from Chevron, Conocco Phillips, ExxonMobil, Meta, RMA Group, Roche, Amazon, and 3M.
