US$140million Sihanoukville Wastewater Treatment Plants 48% Complete

Sihanoukville wastewater treatment plants worth over US$140 million are now 48% complete, according to Sihanoukville Municipal Governor Y Sokleng on 14 January.

Speaking at a press conference for the provincial work progress, Mr Sokleng said, “The reason for building this treatment plant is to prevent dirty water from flowing directly into the sea.”

He added that the wastewater treatment plants will have the capacity to treat up to 12,400 cubic meters of wastewater per day.

The project is being developed by BUCG Company, and based on the master plan, will be implemented in three phases from 2019-2021, 2021-2023, and 2023-2030. Meanwhile, the estimated cost for the first phase is about US$143 million. (Read more)

Many other infrastructure development projects are also being implemented in Sihanoukville such as 34-road renovation, 11-road renovation, the PP-SHV expressway, deep seaport, international airport, landfills, among other projects. (Read more)
