US$19 million Siem Reap Referral Hospital Building Set for 2021

A new Japanese-funded US$19 million building at the Siem Reap Referral Hospital is scheduled to begin the construction next year, according to the director of the Siem Reap Provincial Health Department Kros Sarath on 03 August.

According to Mr Sarath, the new building is a four-storey facility with a 220-bed capacity. The building will also be equipped with modern equipment for placing and treating emergency patients as well as providing specialised surgical services.

Construction is scheduled to start in early 2021 and will take 22 months to complete.

This multi-purpose building project is a part of the grant aid from the Japanese government worth over US$41 million, which also includes human resources, economic generation and social development programs.

Ground was also broken on two other referral hospitals projects last month, including the US$2 million Pailin Referral Hospital, and the US$ 1.4 million Kroch Chhmar District Referral Hospital. (Read more)
