US$207 million planned for Cambodia ‘Livable Cities’ project

The Cambodian government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will invest more than US$200 million in a ‘Livable Cities’ project across four provinces.

Using a loan from ADB and budget from the government, the US$207 million ‘Livable Cities’ project will cover four provinces including Kampot, according to a Facebook post by the Kampot Administration on 03 September following a meeting between the provincial governor and ADB representative.

Livable Cities is a part of the ADB’s vision and approach to urban development across developing cities in Asia to help transform those cities into safe, sustainable urban centress.

According to the same post, the project will invest more in existing infrastructures.

For Kampot province, the project includes investment in infrastructure such as drainage systems, wastewater management systems, solid waste management and landfill, and water supply system management.

Kampot provincial governor H.E Cheav Tay who chaired the meeting urged the team to speed up the work while citing that he will advise all concerned officials to cooperate with the feasibility study as well as provide related data.
