K (Cambodia) Co Ltd Launches $7M ISUZU Vehicle Assembly Plant in Kampong Speu

K (Cambodia) Co Ltd’s $7 million ISUZU vehicle assembly plant in Kampong Speu province has been officially opened by HE Sok Chenda Sophea, Secretary General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), on 29 March 2023. The plant was approved by the CDC in early 2022 and is expected to create 166 new jobs in the area.

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) notices issued in early 2022 reveal that it has greenlit K (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD investment on the US$7.3 million project to establish an ISUZU car assembly plant in Trapeang Kong commune, Samrong Tong district, Kampong Speu province, which is able to create more 166 new jobs for people.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, HE Sok Chenda Sophea noted that the establishment of the plant reflects the Royal Government’s clear vision for economic growth and development, specifically through the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Economic Corridor study by the Ministry of Commerce and Japan’s JICA since the last 20 years.

HH also praised the Cambodian policy of encouraging investment in the country. According to him, the newly opened ISUZU assembly plant in Kampong Speu is not only a significant investment in terms of job creation, but it also aligns with the government’s policy to encourage investment in different provinces, rather than just in the capital or Kandal province.

Up to this date, Cambodia is already home to numerous car assembly plants, including Hyundai, Kia, Ssangyong, Soueast, Dongfeng, Ford, and Toyota. In June 2022, RMA Cambodia launched the $21 million Ford assembly plant in Pursat province.

With the increasing investment in the automobile industry, Cambodia is steadily building its reputation as a competitive destination for investors in the sector, thanks to its strategic location, favourable investment policies, and a growing domestic market for cars. The new ISUZU assembly plant is a welcome addition to the country and will further enhance Cambodia’s manufacturing capabilities and automobile manufacturing sector. (Read more  and more)
