First Wireless EV Charging Road to be Built in US in Michigan, Operational by 2023

The United States has recently announced that it will soon build a public wireless in-road charging system allowing electric vehicles (EV) to charge while in motion and stationary.

Israeli power company Electreon was selected to build this electric road system (ERS) in Detroit, Michigan, as part of the inductive vehicle charging pilot program.

Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will provide US$1.9 million in funding toward the pilot project, with Electreon contributing the remainder.

The project is due to become operational by 2023.
