Vietnam Establishes New 1,600-Hectare Special Economic Zone on Border of Kampot and Takeo Provinces

Vietnam has established a new 1,600-hectare special economic zone at the border between Hà Tiên province and Cambodia’s Kampot and Takeo provinces.

According to Vietnam News, the Hà Tiên Border-Gate Economic Zone is located in the Mekong Delta of Kiên Giang and covers five communes of Vietnam.

The area is also bordered with Kirivong district inTakeo province, as well as Banteay Meas and Kampong Trach districts in Kampot province, Cambodia.

There are seven areas in this new economic zone including duty-free, tourism, administrative, residential, industrial parks, service areas, and the Hà Tiên International Gate connecting to Cambodia’s Prek Chak International Border Gate.

Chairman of the Hà Tiên City’s People’s Committee Lê Quốc Anh said the new establishment would help promote trade, economic, culture, and defence-security exchanges between the two countries.

To date, the new economic zone has attracted 35 projects worth approximately US$191 million.
