World’s First Fully Rotating Skyscraper to Start Construction in 2020

After spending a decade studying the project, Dubai is scheduled to build the world’s first fully rotating skyscraper, The Dynamic Tower, according to The Daily Mail.

With an estimated investment value of USD1.2 billion, the Dynamic Tower will soar 420 metres high with 80 storeys. Each unit will be able to be individually rotated 360 degrees around its concrete core allowing all residents to see the whole view of Dubai city from every dimension.

The unique point is more than just rotating; the building will be self-powered through wind turbines and solar panels, with 79 wind turbines placed on each floor to generate enough energy to fuel the building’s electricity. More than that, all residents can control the rotation speed and even to stop their units from spinning with a voice-activated command system.

The Dynamic Group claims that the landmark will offer a wellness experience rather than simply working as a hotel that is claimed to be the hotel beyond the current star rating.

The idea for the building was first proposed in 2008 by Israeli-Italian architect David Fisher. After 10 years of study and discussion, the ground breaking is slated to be in 2020.
