Strengthening Bilateral Ties: Siem Reap and Henan Authorities Commit to Joint Cooperation

In a significant move to enhance bilateral relations, Siem Reap Province in Cambodia and Henan Province in the People’s Republic of China have committed to fostering cooperation in key areas. This pledge was formalized during the 2025 Tourism Development Conference held from 23 to 30 May in Kuqa, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, and Qingzhou, Henan province.

Ngoc Sengkak, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap, emphasised that the conference serves as a vital platform to showcase Xinjiang’s tourism potential, facilitate business negotiations, and explore tourism routes. He noted that the forum aims to promote international tourism exchange and community collaboration, evaluate effective strategies for tourism development, and coordinate future expansion initiatives.

As part of the effort to bolster cooperation, the Siem Reap delegation made a courtesy visit to the Governor of Shingzhou city, Henan province. This meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss enhancing collaboration in priority sectors such as tourism, culture, agriculture, trade, and industry. The potential exchange of Cambodian students from Siem Reap to Shingzhou was also highlighted as a key aspect of their partnership.

In addition to government initiatives, a delegation from the China International Chamber of Commerce, consisting of around 40 companies, recently met with representatives from the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce. This engagement focused on exploring investment opportunities in critical sectors such as energy, construction, manufacturing, real estate, and transportation in Cambodia. (Read more)
