World’s Highest Sky Bridge to Open Next Year

CapitaLand has recently set a new world record with Raffles City Chongqing in China as the building with the highest sky bridge linking the most number of towers, according to the developer.

Named The Conservatory, the sky bridge is world’s highest horizontal skyscraper at 400 metres above sea level. It is designed in a curved accordion-shaped horizontal building measuring 300 metres in length, 30 metres in width and 22.5 metres in height, and connects four towers.

The Conservatory has outdone Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands , a 200 metre-tall sky bridge linking three towers.

The stunning aerial feet of engineering is part of the USD3.8 billion Raffles City Project by CapitaLand and Ascendas-Singbridge which comprises of eight towers with an overall construction floor area of 1.12 million square metres, the size of 170 football fields.

The whole project features a shopping mall, residences, offices and a hotel, while the Conservatory sky bridge includes a viewing deck, sky gardens, swimming pools, restaurants and pubs.

Construction is currently underway and is expected to be completed by the middle of this year and scheduled to open for service by next year.

“Raffles City Chongqing is by far the largest and most complex integrated development that CapitaLand has undertaken. Erecting The Conservatory marks the culmination of five years of construction progress and a grand milestone in outlining Raffles City Chongqing’s image of a powerful sail surging forward, as it prepares to welcome the world in 2019,” said Mr Lim Ming Yan, President and Group CEO of CapitaLand Limited.

“The hoisting of The Conservatory is not only a significant moment for Raffles City Chongqing, it marks a global milestone in the field of architecture and engineering,” he added.
