CCA helps educate construction business operators on workers’ safety

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) in cooperation with Cambodia Constructors Association (CCA) held a seminar on 27 March to help educate construction-related business operators about workplace safety using a newly-published safety handbook.

Held at the MLMUPC office, the seminar was opened by the undersecretary of state H.E. Lao Tep Seyha and joined by more than 200 construction industry representatives.

“The purpose of the seminar is to promote the safety handbook to construction business operators and also to help educate on the basic knowledge and regulations related to the construction sector. This book is very beneficial for them, especially for on-site workers. Every single piece of content of the book must read,” said H.E. Seyha.

“At this stage, we are educating and promoting the safety rules and measuring of them first. However, by the end of this year, we will start inspections on construction sites. If any sites disobey the safety measures, they face the punishment. If the case is serious, the site will be ordered to close,” he added.

10,000 copies of the safety books will be available and currently 8,000 has been published, of which 5,000 copies are sponsored by CCA and 3,000 by Canadia Bank.
