MPWT: Talks Continue on Korea-funded Chroy Chongvar–Svay Chrom Bridge

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT)’s spokesman Vasim Sorya said that talks between Cambodia and South Korea on the Chroy Chongvar-Svay Chrom Bridge are underway.

HE Vasim Sorya said on 25 February that at this point, the talks between the two sides mainly focus on technical matters, while other details will be studied later.

“Details such as the construction timeline and the exact location of the project have yet to be discussed. Basically, both parties for now just talk about technical matters and budget,” said HE Sorya.

He added that these talks are the first step before the official feasibility study will be conducted.

The Chroy Chongvar–Svay Chrom is one of the major infrastructure projects that most Phnom Penh citizens are waiting for.

The project remained unclear until the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae In in November 2020 announced that South Korea will help build the Cambodia-South Korea Friendship bridge crossing the Mekong River. (Read more)
