Cambodia Seeks Urgent Funds from China for Chak Angre Krom- Prek Pra Bridge

The Royal Government of Cambodia has requested an urgent concessional loan from China to fund the construction of the Chak Angre Krom- Prek Pra Bridge, in the southern part of Phnom Penh.

Minister of Public Works and Transport HE Sun Chanthol said on Wednesday 9 February that the ministry has asked PM Samdech Hun Sen to send a formal request to China for urgent funding for this project.

“We have already submitted the document and this is a priority in 2022,” he added, citing the bridge will help reduce traffic congestion in the area.

Chinese company Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd. (SCG) has completed a study for the bridge already while the government is currently reviewing each section in detail. (Read more)

The bridge will help reduce traffic congestion on the Monivong Bridge and help strengthen socio-economic relations between Phnom Penh, south Phnom Penh, the new airport area, and Takhmao City.
