Progress Inspection for Wastewater Treatment System Development in Takhmao City

In a significant step towards enhancing the development progress in Takhmao City, HE Ros Vanna, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, led a comprehensive inspection of the wastewater treatment system development project in Takhmao City. This project, pivotal for managing urban wastewater, is funded by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the Import-Export Bank of Korea.

The inspection aimed to evaluate the project’s advancements as 2025 draws to a close. The delegation included key stakeholders such as the Deputy Secretary of State, the Project Manager, and representatives from both the Kandal Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport and the EDCF. A critical assessment was also conducted with the project consultant team, comprising Dohwa-Seoyoung Joint Venture professionals, alongside the construction team from the KUMHO-TECHCROSS Joint Venture.

During the visit, discussions centered around overcoming challenges faced during the construction phase and strategies to ensure timely project completion. With urbanization rapidly increasing, the need for effective wastewater management systems in Takhmao City—one of Cambodia’s burgeoning urban areas—has never been more urgent. The treatment system is expected to significantly reduce pollution levels and improve public health outcomes in the region.

According to experts, the development of this wastewater treatment system aligns with international best practices for urban planning and environmental management. As part of the project, advanced technologies will be deployed to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in treating wastewater before its release into the environment.

“This project is not just about infrastructure; it is about safeguarding our communities and environment for future generations,” HE Ros Vanna stated during the inspection, and he urged the construction company to pay attention to safety and work quality, as well as the speed of work, so that the project can be completed according to plan. The project is expected to benefit thousands of residents by providing a reliable and efficient wastewater treatment solution. However, during the meeting, the project did not release the progress of its achievements.

As the project moves forward, local communities and stakeholders remain optimistic about its potential impact on public health and the environment, setting a precedent for future infrastructure initiatives in Cambodia.

With continued collaboration among governmental bodies, international partners, and local communities, the Takhmao wastewater treatment project represents a critical investment in the country’s sustainable development goals, aimed at boosting the quality of life for its citizens. (read more)
