The Gov’t plans to build a large water treatment plant to supply three provinces in eastern Cambodia

China Civil Engineering Corporation (CHINA CIVIL ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION) is currently studying the feasibility of building a large water treatment system to supply three major provinces in eastern Cambodia and will be completed by the end of May, according to the meeting between His Excellency Senior Minister Cham Prasidh and the delegation of CCECC on April 3, 2023.

TONY WONG, vice president of CCECC Corporation, said the work was progressing, with documents ready to be submitted to Chinese superiors for approval.

He added that Chinese technicians and experts will arrive in Cambodia later this month. The process of preparing equipment for import to Cambodia to serve the core work will be followed by a series of procedures.

Meanwhile, the senior minister said that this large-scale project will allow people in the eastern part of the country, especially in areas that have been bombed and sprayed with orange powder to remove leaves during the war. Indochina and the United States in the 69s and 70s had access to clean water from the Mekong River Basin.

The Senior Minister added that this large-scale water treatment system project will be able to liberate the people living along National Road 7, including Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmum and Snuol districts, Kratie province, which have a need for about 300,000 cubic meters of clean water. A day free from the use of groundwater sources or ponds, and lakes, rich in toxins, chemicals and germs left over from the war and human activities today.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation and CCECC signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Feasibility Study for the Construction of Water Treatment System by Distributing Water from the Mekong River in the Surrounding Areas of Cambodia on the 25th.
