Kampot Province Set to Construct World-Class International Boat Race Track

The government’s visionary plan to establish an international boat race track in Kampot province is gaining momentum. During the grand opening ceremony of a thrilling kayak competition at the esteemed Kampot Water Sports Stadium on the morning of 23 May 2023, HE Ung Chhay, Deputy Governor of Kampot Province, revealed that meticulous site assessments are underway to create a permanent kayaking track adhering to global standards.

Under the astute guidance of HE Mao Thunin, the Provincial Governor, a dedicated team has been assigned to conduct a comprehensive study, with the aim of constructing a world-class boat racetrack. This ambitious endeavor seeks to invigorate both sports and tourism in Kampot, ushering in a new era of excellence.

HE Ung Chhay further emphasized that the establishment of this state-of-the-art water sports facility will not only attract a greater influx of tourists to Kampot but also contribute significantly to the province’s economic growth. By augmenting the local tourism sector, it promises to generate enhanced income opportunities for the people of Kampot.

Rin Daner, the triumphant kayaker who clinched victory in the exhilarating 2,000-meter water race, shared his perspective on the growing popularity of kayaking among tourists.
