Battambang Authority Embarks on Creating a Phnom Sampov​​ ​Premier Historical Resort

Battambang Provincial Administration is on the cusp of a visionary undertaking that seeks to transform the revered Phnom Sampov historical site into a model destination for history enthusiasts and travelers alike. The Ministry of Tourism’s announcement on 15 August 2023, sheds light on the province’s steadfast commitment to enhancing its historical heritage.

Embedded within Battambang’s strategic tourism development plan for 2021-2025, the reinvigoration of the Phnom Sampov historical site has assumed a prominent position on the provincial administration’s agenda. This initiative reflects the province’s dedication to preserving its cultural legacy while bolstering its appeal to a wider audience of tourists.

With meticulous attention to detail, the Provincial Department of Tourism has meticulously crafted a comprehensive blueprint for Phnom Sampov’s revitalisation. The blueprint encompasses an array of facets, including the establishment of (1) Information and ticket booths, (2) Parking at the bottom and top of the mountain (3 ) Signs and signposts (4) Main map of the resort and visit map (5) Souvenir stalls and checkpoints (6) Public toilets (7) Places of worship and offerings (7) ) Bat viewing sites (8) Aesthetic management, hygiene, environment, security and order (9) Management of mountaineering transportation and (10)​visitation maps.

By aligning collective vision and commitment, the Phnom Sampov historical site is poised to emerge as an irresistible cultural destination, promising to enrich Battambang’s allure and legacy for generations to come.
