The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) unveiled the initiation and culmination points of the eagerly anticipated third Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway construction project. This announcement through the official Facebook page of HE Phorn Rim, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, marks a pivotal moment in Cambodia’s infrastructure landscape on 25 January 2024.

According to HE Phorn Rim, the comprehensive study for the expressway, spanning approximately 420km, charts a transformative route from the northern tip of the Third Ring Road in Phnom Penh to its southern terminus at Poipet, the bustling border town adjoining Thailand. The proposed path encompasses key provinces, covering Phnom Penh (3km), Kandal (18km), Kampong Cham (43km), Kampong Thom (131km), Siem Reap (130km), and Banteay Meanchey (95km).

The Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway Infrastructure Project represents a monumental stride in Cambodia’s pursuit of cutting-edge transportation networks. This ambitious venture follows the success of the first Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, which has been operational for over a year, and the ongoing progress of the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway, which commenced construction on 7 June 2023.
