Bridge Construction Across Bassac River Surpasses Milestone Ahead of Schedule

The ambitious project to construct a bridge spanning the Bassac River, linking Chak Angre Krom to Prek Pra, has surpassed expectations by achieving a remarkable 7.5% progress in just two months, surpassing the planned timeline by 0.6%.

This significant milestone, achieved ahead of schedule, underscores the swift and efficient progress of the construction efforts since its commencement on 19 February as highlighted in an update shared on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on 19 April 2024.

The construction progress to date showcases commendable achievements, with the completion of 24 out of the planned nine pillars, with concrete work reaching 100% completion and ongoing installation of templates. Additionally, significant strides have been made with the 10th pillar of the 9th pillar, with 12 pillars already in place and four trees successfully drilled.

The bridge, boasting a total length of 1,650 metres, comprises a bridge length of 845.70 metres and a road width of 27 metres, along with a road connecting bridge length of 804.30 metres.

Constructed by Shanghai Construction Company, under the project consultancy of Guangzhou Wan An, this monumental infrastructure endeavour has been made possible through a US$60.2 million investment concessional loan from the Chinese government, in collaboration with Cambodian government.
