Gov’t Resolves Over 85% of Land Disputes with Over 15,000 Cases Addressed

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction has resolved 13,329 land dispute cases out of 15,642, achieving an 85.21% resolution rate. This information was shared on the ministry’s official Facebook page on 26 June 2024.

The ministry’s efforts addressed various disputes, including land tenure issues, duplicate title applications, and state land title issuance in forest covers and protected areas. They also handled requests for intervention in dispute resolution, land measurement, demarcation, non-technical construction inspections, ownership transfer registration procedures, and boundary and geographical disputes.

The ministry employs mechanisms such as the Cadastral Commission, the National Land Dispute Resolution Authority, and the Land Dispute Resolution Working Group, ensuring a win-win approach that requires cooperation from all parties for resizing, relocation, and title deed issuance.

In Sihanoukville, the state resolved 613 out of 658 land disputes, accounting for a 93% resolution rate.

Beyond resolving disputes, the ministry is promoting systematic land registration to convert non-disputed land into national income sources and improve state land management and land use planning based on geographical and natural resource potential. By mid-June 2024, the ministry had prepared 31 land use planning plans and completed 23 studies, with 23 more decisions in progress.
