Ministry of Land Pledges to Complete Nationwide Land Title Registration by 2028

Cambodia’s Ministry of Land Management (MLMUPC) has committed to completing the registration of over 1 million remaining land plots by December 2028. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the CAMBUILD Exhibition on 11 September 2024, Deputy PM and Minister of Land Management, HE Says Samal, reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to fulfilling this national priority.

This ambitious goal is set to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Cambodia’s land registration system, originally initiated by Samdech Techo Hun Sen in 1989.

“In the next few years, it will be the 40th anniversary of land registration. On this 40th anniversary, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction is highly committed and responsible to the people, to the Royal Government of Cambodia, and to the party will complete registering the land titles by December 2028,” he said.

As of January 2024, the ministry had issued approximately 5 million land titles across the country. HE Say Samal further announced that an additional 2.3 million plots had been registered, and the process of distributing these titles to landowners is ongoing. (Read more)

The minister emphasized that the ministry remains committed to ensuring the registration process is completed on time, highlighting the importance of land registration as a pillar for sustainable development and legal protection for Cambodia’s citizens.
