To strengthen bilateral investment and expand economic cooperation, Cambodia and Canada have formalized an agreement to promote joint venture projects, focusing on priority sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, and technology.

The MoU was signed between the Cambodian Duke Association and Excellence Industrielle Saint-Laurent (FISL) of Quebec, Canada, during the visit of Cambodia’s Deputy PM and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, HE Sun Chanthol, on 29 September 2024.

This MoU is the fourth such agreement secured during the Deputy PM’s mission to North America, aimed at opening new investment channels between Cambodia and key international markets. The strategic partnership between Saint-Laurent, Montreal, Quebec, and Cambodia is expected to bolster joint ventures across multiple industries, including agro-industry, medical innovation, tourism, and advanced technologies. It also paves the way for smoother economic exchanges and investment facilitation between the two nations.

The meeting underscored the growing interest from Canadian investors in Cambodian sectors, particularly in areas where the two countries can complement each other’s strengths. The focus is now on developing projects that align with both nations’ sustainability and innovation goals, offering vast opportunities in agriculture, medicine, renewable energy, and tourism.
