Japan funds the construction of the first community technology center in Cambodia’s Takeo province

The Japanese government has pledged a grant of US$145,692 to fund the construction of a community technology center in Bati district, Takeo province. The grant was signed by HE U Inu At Suzy, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia and a representative of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications of Takeo Province on 17 March, 2023.

The community technology center is aimed at benefiting 8,000 people and 1,000 students in the area, providing them with opportunities to learn about information and communication technology (ICT) and digital technology. The project falls under Japan’s Small-Scale Human Security Project (Kusanoni) grant scheme, for which Japan recently provided more than 200,000 USD for the construction of the bridge and strengthening of the production of farm chickens.

This initiative is part of Japan’s longstanding efforts to support the development of Cambodia through infrastructure projects and human resource development.

The construction of the community technology center is expected to provide local residents with access to the latest technology and digital tools, equipping them with valuable skills and knowledge to enhance their employability and support economic growth in the area.
