Sports Village is Ready for Official Inauguration on 20 April

The 2023 SEA Games Village at the Moradok Techo National Stadium in Cambodia is set to be inaugurated on 20 April 2023, in preparation for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. The announcement was made by HE Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Organising Committee for the 2023 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games (CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC), following a visit by Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, who inspected the construction progress on 28 February 2023.

During the inspection, Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh urged for the acceleration of the construction process, setting a deadline of 31 March for the completion and handover of the project to the CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC.

“This restriction has made us feel warmer and more confident, aiming to set 31 March. The sports village will be completed. And for the next two weeks in April, are all equipped to sleep,” said HE Vath Chamroeun.

He added that on 20 April, the sports village would be inaugurated and opened in preparation for welcoming the delegates and athletes who will gradually come from 27 April to participate in the competition. SEA Games in Cambodia.

The project is expected to provide more than 5,000 beds to accommodate sports delegates during the SEA Games, with a daily capacity of 2,000 to more than 5,000 people, particularly during the opening ceremony, which will require accommodation for over 5,000 people.

Oknha Sear Rithy, a Village Sports Construction Company representative, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to completing the project on time and meeting the expectations of the CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC management.

The construction of the sports village highlights Cambodia’s commitment to hosting the 2023 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games and is expected to play a significant role in accommodating and providing essential facilities to the participants of the much-anticipated sporting event.
