Bentley Systems and Tata Projects Partner to Prepare Students for Infrastructure Careers

Bentley Systems and Tata Projects have announced a strategic collaboration to help prepare university students for careers in India’s rapidly evolving infrastructure sector.

The partnership, formalized through a non-commercial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to bridge the gap between classroom education and real-world engineering practice by giving students hands-on exposure to infrastructure projects, digital engineering technologies, and industry workflows.

The initiative will begin with a pilot program at COEP Technological University in Pune, with the potential to expand to other academic institutions in the future.

Under the collaboration, Bentley Systems and Tata Projects will work with the university to update learning content based on current industry needs and provide specialized training. Students will also gain access to real-world engineering projects, datasets, case studies, industry lectures, mentoring, project reviews, site visits, internships, and other opportunities to connect with professionals.

Kamalakannan Thiruvadi, Regional Executive, South Asia at Bentley Systems, said the partnership would help students develop practical digital engineering skills and gain industry experience that can prepare them to contribute to India’s infrastructure development.

Shirley Burla, Chief Human Resources Officer at Tata Projects, said the company sees industry involvement in education as important for preparing engineers to meet the complexity and scale of modern infrastructure projects.

The collaboration reflects a growing emphasis on connecting higher education with industry needs as digital technologies increasingly shape the design, construction, and operation of infrastructure. For Bentley Systems and Tata Projects, the program is also intended to strengthen India’s future infrastructure talent pipeline by giving students practical experience before they enter the workforce.
