Bilateral Strategic Dialogue: Cambodia and China Convene 2nd Public-Private Forum to Expand Investment and Accelerate Capital Flows

Co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol and Ambassador Wang Wenbin, the high-level meeting evaluates progress across four core agendas to resolve corporate challenges and boost investor confidence

Cambodia and China have successfully convened the second Cambodia-China Government-Private Sector Dialogue, focusing on four primary agenda items designed to broaden existing investments and attract new foreign direct capital into the Kingdom. Held on September 3, 2026, the high-level forum was co-chaired by H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and H.E. Wang Wenbin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Cambodia. The institutional dialogue serves as a key economic mechanism to reinforce trade ties, bolster commercial confidence among Chinese business leaders, and streamline multi-sectoral collaboration under the bilateral Diamond Cooperation framework.

The comprehensive meeting centered on four critical operational agendas structured to systematically enhance the Kingdom’s business environment. First, both delegations conducted a joint assessment reviewing progress and practical solutions implemented since the inaugural dialogue session. Second, government officials presented recent updates regarding national investment policies, regulatory frameworks, and administrative procedures. Third, representatives from Chinese enterprises raised specific operational inquiries and proposals, receiving direct clarifications and action plans from representatives of relevant Cambodian ministries and state institutions. Fourth, the forum established concrete future action directions to ensure sustained follow-up on emerging private-sector needs.

Through the dialogue, both governments reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening bilateral trade momentum, increasing total investment volume, and maintaining a highly responsive, investor-friendly economic ecosystem. By establishing transparent problem-solving mechanisms and aligning public policy with corporate requirements, both nations aim to deliver tangible economic benefits, drive job creation, and secure long-term sustainable development for their respective peoples.
