Bulgaria and Cambodia Aim for Enhanced Trade Cooperation

Bulgaria has expressed a strong commitment to expanding its cooperation with Cambodia in business and trade, as highlighted in a recent meeting between His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and Dr. Maxim Behar, First President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce.

During their discussions, Dr. Behar emphasized the importance of understanding Cambodia’s current business and trade landscape, as well as its investment potential. He noted that this meeting marks a significant step toward fostering bilateral relations aimed at bolstering economic ties between the two nations. Additionally, Dr. Behar plans to share insights regarding Cambodia’s positive attributes and investment opportunities with the Bulgarian Prime Minister during his visit.

In response, HE Sun Chanthol welcomed Bulgaria’s interest in the Cambodian market, highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting foreign direct investment and economic diversification. He outlined the policy framework designed to encourage private sector investments as foundational to Cambodia’s growth strategy.

Recent statistics from the General Department of Customs and Excise reveal that Cambodia’s trade volume with foreign countries has surged to over $36 billion in the first seven months of 2025, representing a remarkable 16.5% increase compared to the previous year.

Both leaders expressed optimism that strengthened cooperation between Bulgaria and Cambodia could lead to fruitful investment opportunities and mutual benefits soon.
