Cambodia and Korean Chambers of Commerce Sign MoU to Galvanize Trade and Foreign Investment

The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding on September 3, 2026, aimed at accelerating bilateral trade, fostering economic synergy, and driving new Korean investment flows into the Kingdom. The agreement was formally executed by Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council for Cambodia, and Kim Seong Su, President of the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia. The signing ceremony was held under the presidency of H.E. Kong Vibol, Minister Delegate Attached to the Prime Minister and Director General of the General Department of Taxation, with vice presidents and senior members from both institutions in attendance.

Designed to build a robust framework for economic, commercial, and investment cooperation between Cambodia and South Korea, the strategic partnership highlights the Kingdom’s competitive market advantages. Speaking at the event, Neak Oknha Kith Meng underscored Cambodia’s favorable business environment and macroeconomic stability, which continue to thrive under the pro-business policies and leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet. He emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding marks a pivotal milestone toward cementing ties between the two chambers, serving the dual purpose of attracting new capital from South Korea and providing institutional protection for existing investments.

Reaffirming the strategic value of the accord, KOCHAM President Kim Seong Su described the ceremony as a landmark moment in relations between the Korean commercial community and Cambodian business leadership. He noted that establishing structured channels between both organizations will enhance investor confidence, streamline market entry for Korean firms, and ensure ongoing operational support for businesses already established in the country.

The Memorandum of Understanding outlines a comprehensive operational framework covering critical areas of collaboration. Under the agreement, both institutions will facilitate trade data sharing, exchange regulatory updates and economic policy information, organize business matching sessions, coordinate trade missions and commercial forums, resolve operational challenges for investors, and provide continuous technical and administrative support.
