Cambodia and Saudi Arabia have officially pledged to strengthen bilateral ties across seven key economic sectors, aiming to elevate diplomatic and commercial relations to a new milestone. The shared commitment was established during a high-level courtesy meeting at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on August 24, 2026, between Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and HE Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Cambodia.

During the working discussion, Ambassador Algosaibi outlined two core diplomatic priorities designed to deepen bilateral cooperation throughout his tenure. The first priority focuses on promoting regular official exchanges and high-level working visits between institutional leaders and government officials at all levels. The second priority centers on establishing direct business-to-business connections between the private sectors of both nations, supported by an upcoming visit from a Saudi business delegation to Cambodia to explore concrete trade and investment opportunities.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed confidence that the ambassador’s diplomatic mission will actively contribute to doubling trade and investment momentum between the two countries. The Prime Minister highlighted that establishing a commercial presence in Cambodia allows foreign investors to not only supply a growing domestic market, but also leverage the Kingdom’s active free trade agreements with regional and international partners to access larger global markets.

To convert diplomatic dialogue into actionable development, both sides pledged to focus joint efforts across seven strategic sectors, encompassing economy, trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, technology, and artificial intelligence.
