Cambodia Joins Digital Public Goods Alliance to Propel Technology Sector Forward

In a significant step towards enhancing its digital landscape, Cambodia has officially joined the Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA). This move, announced by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on September 20, 2025, aims to harness open technologies to accelerate the growth of the country’s tech sector.

The DPGA, an initiative supported by the United Nations, promotes the identification and implementation of open-source technologies across various nations. By joining the alliance, Cambodia aims to be part of a collaborative effort to create a thriving global ecosystem for digital public goods, which is essential for achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

The ministry highlighted Cambodia’s commitment to digital transformation, emphasizing the deployment of reliable digital solutions to modernize public service delivery. This initiative seeks to replace traditional paper-based services with efficient online alternatives, enhancing accessibility and efficiency for citizens. Furthermore, Cambodia is dedicated to developing digital nurseries intended to improve public service performance and foster public trust.

These digital nurseries aim to encourage the adoption of technology within government institutions and among national and international organizations, reinforcing Cambodia’s position in the global digital landscape.

The DPGA currently boasts a diverse membership, including government agencies from Germany, India, Ethiopia, Estonia, Singapore, and prominent organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and UNICEF, along with various technology companies. Cambodia’s addition to this coalition marks an important chapter in its journey towards a more digitized future.
