Cambodia & Singapore Unveil US$12 Million State-of-the-Art Cashew Processing Plant in Kampong Thom

CSNC Agriculture, a dynamic Cambodian-Singaporean venture, proudly inaugurated its state-of-the-art cashew processing plant Valued at US$12 million,  in Sno village, Trapeang Russey commune, Kampong Svay district, Kampong Thom province.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on 6 December 2023, witnessed the presence of Mr. Kong Vimean, Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and Mr Nguon Rattanak, Governor of Kampong Thom Province.

This cutting-edge facility represents a collaborative effort between Cambodian and Singaporean investors, signaling a robust commitment to the growth of the cashew sector. The plant spans an impressive 12,800 square meters, encompassing 40 hectares and boasting a formidable processing capacity of 180 tonnes per day, operational for 180 days.

Mr Suy Kok Thean, President of the Cambodian Cashew Association, emphasized that the construction unfolds in two phases, with an initial investment of US$5 million in the first year and a subsequent injection of US$7 million in the second phase.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Mr Nguon Rattanak underscored the significance of this initiative, aligning with governmental policies to promote the cashew industry. Kampong Thom province, with its expansive areas conducive to industrial crops like cashews and rubber, emerges as an apt choice for this transformative project.

The investment company representative elucidated that Kampong Thom was chosen not only due to strategic partnerships but also because the province is a cashew production hub, reflecting the company’s commitment to maximizing the potential of this thriving sector.

Beyond cashew processing, CSNC Agriculture extends its investment into processing cassava nests and cassava, affirming its dedication to diversifying agricultural ventures.
