Industrial Laboratory Centers

The Ministry of Industry and Handicraft held a ceremony to demolish an old factory on July 3, 2018 prior to using the plot to build an “Industrial Laboratory Centers” that will be recognised by the International Standard Organisation (ISO), according to the ministry’s Facebook page.

Attended by Minister of Industry and Handicraft H.E Cham Prasidh, the construction of the laboratory centre will begin next month after clearing the old building.

The new seven-storey building is located in Chhak Ong Re Leu area along National Road No.2 and construction are expected to finish by the end of 2019.

With a new, modern laboratory centre, it is easier for the country to request assistance with necessary scientific equipment such as toxicity-testing equipment from partner countries like China, Japan, Korea and the EU, according to the minister.

This is another milestone for Cambodia’s product standardisation, which has seen significant progress, especially as it has helped promote the country’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sector, the minister added.

Over the past five years, numbers of approval standard product has been increasing rapidly. In 2017, the number has reached 868, which is 23 times higher compared to 2013.
