Secretary of State H.E. Ros Vanna leads technical mission to Budapest Central Wastewater Treatment Plant and Grundfos factory to ensure high-standard infrastructure implementation

Hungary: Developing modern wastewater treatment infrastructure remains a critical priority for Cambodia as the government seeks to improve urban sanitation, protect natural water ecosystems, and ensure sustainable municipal growth. From August 24 to August 28, 2026, H.E. Ros Vanna, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Project Director, led an official technical delegation on a comprehensive inspection tour to Budapest, Hungary. The delegation included the Undersecretary of State, the Director of the Wastewater Treatment System Research Department, the Director of the Kandal Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, along with technical representatives from the Dohwa-Seoyoung Joint Venture consulting firm and the KUMHO-TECHCROSS Joint Venture construction team.

The primary objective of the mission was to conduct site visits to the Budapest Central Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Grundfos Hungary Factory. The visits allowed Cambodian officials to evaluate advanced wastewater pumping machinery and state-of-the-art environmental infrastructure, which currently plays a vital role in protecting Hungary’s local ecosystems and the Danube River. Furthermore, the technical team conducted thorough reviews of the specifications for main and secondary pumping stations designated for integration into the ongoing Takhmao City Wastewater Treatment System Development Project in Kandal province.

Inspecting manufacturing lines and operational facilities directly in Hungary highlights the ministry’s commitment to strict quality control and international engineering benchmarks. Close coordination among government officials, engineering consultants, and contractors ensures that equipment selected for Takhmao’s municipal drainage and treatment systems will meet rigorous performance and durability standards.

In conclusion, the inspection mission to Budapest marks a pivotal advance in executing the Takhmao City Wastewater Treatment System Development Project. By procuring proven, high-performance wastewater management technologies and inspecting key pumping facilities firsthand, Cambodia is establishing a resilient sanitation framework that will safeguard local water resources, enhance public hygiene, and support long-term urban sustainability for Takhmao residents. Based on actual work progress, the wastewater treatment system development project in Takhmao City, Kandal Province, has achieved an overall completion rate of approximately 38% as of the end of August, marking its second year of implementation.
