China provides grant to renovate NR7 from Kratie to Laos border

China will provide a grant to Cambodia to upgrade the quality of NR7, a 96m road connecting Kratietown to the Cambodia-Laos border in Steung Treng province.

Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport Lim Sidenin discussed the project implementation procedures with the construction company representative Li Xiangming on 14 February.

The upgrade will begin from Romat village, O’Kreang commune, Sambo district of Kratie province to Trapeang Kreal international border checkpoint of Stung Treng province, with a total length of 96.63 km.

The project is being studied by China Railway First Survey & Design Institute Group Co., Ltd.

In January 2023, PM Samdech Hun Sen and Chinese Ambassador Wang Wentian, Chinese Ambassador also inaugurated the newly-renovated NR7 section from Skun roundabout to Kampong Cham downtown. The project costs US$117 million, a concessional loan from the Chinese government. (Read more)

In February 2023, another 93km of  NR7 from the roundabout of Kla Stos of Kratie City to Romeat village of Kratie province was also officially renovated under Chinese’s fund. (Read more)
