Chroy Chongva Lucky Supermarket branch ordered to move

The Lucky Supermarket branch located near Bayon roundabout in the Chroy Chongva area has been ordered to move to new a location as the current location creates traffic congestion due to its lack of parking facility on its narrow land plot.

In a statement from the Chroy Chongva district administration dated 3 March, business owner Ms. Heng Phung Eang will be required to move the supermarket to a new location within a month in order to keep security and public order.

Chroy Chongva district governor Klaing Hout said on 5 March that “the Lucky Supermarket is in the stage of applying for permission for a business location which requires the district governor to sign on.”

“This is the point that the district administration did not sign on the application and submit to the Phnom Penh Municipality because the business location is not suitable due to lack of parking lots, causing issues related to security, safety and public order which cause traffic or unaffected accidents,” he said.

“This is the reason the district administration issued an announcement to the owner to move to a new place which is suitable. In this regard, it doesn’t mean that we ask the owner to disassemble but the building can be used as offices, or a business or a service building which does not affect to security, safety and public order,” Mr Klaing Huot said.

According to Mr Klaing Hout, the Chroy Chongva Lucky Supermarket had permission to be built, but that permission was not meant to allow the running of a business and the owner has to apply for permission for a business location which requires the approval from the commune chief, the district governor, and the Phnom Penh governor.
