Construction of New Weigh Station on NR5 Complete, Temporarily Operational

Construction of the new Longvek weigh station on NR5 in Rolea Bier District of Kampong Chhnang province has been completed and temporarily put into operation.

The weigh station was officially handed over by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the Department of Public Works and Transport of Kampong Chhnang on the morning of 24 May.

The main objective of this station to control overweight trucks and to ensure road safety and quality.

This temporary weigh station will be in use until the NR5 renovation project is completed.

NR5 is currently being upgraded and expanded from two lanes to four lanes with a width of 23 metres. Divided into three sections, the project is being implemented at a cost of approximately US$500 million under a loan from the Japanese government.

Despite the pandemic, the project continues smoothly as planned. According to the latest data in February, the entire project is more than 50% complete. (Read more)
