165km of 14 New Road Spanning Six Districts in Kompong Speu Officially Inaugurated

A total of 14 new roads spanning more than 165km in length in Kampong Speu province, were officially inaugurated under the auspices of HE Hun Many, an elected lawmaker in the province, on 29 March 2023. The roads, which were constructed under the Ministry of Rural Development’s management, include 153.25km of DBST paved roads and 12.38km of paved and concrete roads.

The project cost is US$15.15 million, and the main road project runs through 25 communes and 6 districts in Kompong Speu province.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, HE Hun Many stated that the road project is expected to promote socio-economic growth and reduce poverty, while positively impacting the health of people living along the roads.

He also noted the importance of the project in creating opportunities for development across sectors, including agriculture, industry, education, tourism, and health.

The initiative is part of a wider rural road improvement project, which seeks to create a network of all-weather roads to connect rural communities and promote economic growth. The new roads are expected to significantly impact the lives of people living in the region, providing better access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities. Completing the project is a significant step towards the development of Kampong Speu province and the broader region.
