505 elephant roundtable in Pursat province officially inaugurated

The grand inauguration ceremony of the awe-inspiring 505 Elephant Roundabout, situated at the intersection of National Road 55 and National Road 10 in Bramoy Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province, marked a momentous occasion in the province’s history.

Under the presidency of HE Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy, the 505 Elephant Roundabout was officially inaugurated on 25 June 2023, showcasing a remarkable feat of engineering and design.

The construction of this remarkable roundabout commenced in April 2023 and was completed with exceptional efficiency by 23 June, 2023, at a total cost of 399 million riels.

The iconic “Five Hundred and Five Elephants” roundabout serves as a profound symbol of Veal Veng district, transforming it into a significant tourist attraction and historical site within the province. Often regarded as the heart of Veal Veng town, the 505 Elephant Roundabout captivates the attention of visitors as they arrive in this captivating land.

According to the Pursat provincial administration, the symbolism of the 505 elephants encompasses the district’s five wonders, representing unique attributes and cultural significance:

Firstly, elephants epitomize rarity, grandeur, unity, strength, courage, and harmony, exemplifying the spirit of Veal Veng.

Secondly, the strategic location of Veal Veng district allows National Road 55 to intersect with National Road 10 at the roundabout, leading towards the five communes of Veal Veng.

Thirdly, Veal Veng district is blessed with a breathtaking landscape of 1,500 mountains, including the renowned “Hidden Bopha Road” named by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the esteemed leader of the Royal Government. This road is celebrated for its extraordinary natural beauty, resembling a heavenly paradise.

Fourthly, the district comprises five communes, each governed by five councilors, exemplifying the district’s administrative structure and commitment to local governance.

Lastly, Veal Veng district boasts a lineage of five successive district governors, with the current leader representing the fifth generation, showcasing the district’s remarkable continuity and leadership.

The inauguration of the 505 Elephant Roundabout symbolizes a new era for Veal Veng, where history, culture, and beauty converge. This iconic landmark not only enhances the district’s charm but also serves as a testament to the region’s rich heritage and its commitment to creating a vibrant and prosperous community.
